Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Chiropractic Questions

  • What is chiropractic care?

In its simplest form, Chiropractic is finding stress within the spine, which causes interference within the nervous system, and removing the stress using a chiropractic adjustment to allow the nervous system to operate with less interference.

  • How does chiropractic treatment work?

Chiropractic involves manual adjustments, where a controlled force is used to move specific joints, particularly the spine, to alleviate pain, improve function, and promote overall health. The goal is to restore proper alignment and mobility, resulting in the removal of interference from the nervous system. This allows the body to heal from within.

  • Is chiropractic care safe?

When performed by a licensed and trained chiropractor, chiropractic care is generally considered very safe. However, as with anything, there may be risks and contraindications. The use of tools, such as X-rays, can limit the risk of an adjustment.

  • Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are typically not painful. Patients may feel some discomfort or pressure during the adjustment, but it is usually mild. Many people experience relief and improved mobility after the adjustment.

  • How many sessions are typically needed for results?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and the nature of the condition. Some people may find relief after a few sessions, while others with chronic conditions may require ongoing maintenance care. The true number depends on the desired results: pain management or correcting the underlying causes of the pain.

  • Are there any negative side effects of chiropractic adjustments?

While negative side effects are rare, some individuals may experience temporary soreness, stiffness, or mild discomfort after an adjustment. Serious complications are extremely rare, and the overall safety of chiropractic care is supported by research.

  • Do you offer a military discount?

Being an Army veteran himself, Dr. Dean does offer a military discount for active duty, retired, and veteran service members on our adjustments (does not combine with any other specials or offers). Please bring proof of service (active ID, DD-214, VA card, stamp on driver's license, etc.) and notify us on your first visit to ensure we get your discount in our system.

  • Do you take X-rays, and why is it important to X-ray everyone?

Yes, we x-ray everyone in this office, with the exception of younger children and pregnant women. It is important to x-ray for two main reasons. The first reason is to ensure there are no underlying issues that would make it unsafe to adjust our patients. The other reason is we use X-rays to identify the areas of stress within the spine to develop an appropriate treatment plan for your patients.

  • Is Chiropractic safe for children?

Yes, Chiropractic is safe for children of all ages and is encouraged to help ensure that their nervous system is functioning optimally! We use gentle techniques and specific adjustments for children.

  • Is it safe to get adjusted if you are pregnant?

Chiropractic is very safe during pregnancy. It is highly recommended to get adjusted during pregnancy to help reduce your lower back pain, but also to remove any interference in the nervous system to help with the pregnancy. In addition, adjusting the joints within the pelvis to ensure they are moving properly can help in an easier delivery.
